Vicked Off...

A few thoughts after watching the Saints beat the Falcons on Monday Night Football...

1) Both of these teams suck. Saints are 3-0, Falcons are 2-1, but they both looked awful tonight. In all honesty, I would love if this is the best the NFC has to offer (as the promos of the game would lead you to believe) because that would all but guarantee a Who-Dey (not Who-Dat) SuperBowl victory.

2) Kornheiser loves to call Theisman out on his bullshit...which is hilarious. (I hate Theisman)

3) After tonight's game the commentators couldn't stop talking about how great New Orlean's defense was since they "SHUT DOWN" the Falcons' rushing game. Oh, except that the Falcons rushed for 5.1 yards per carry. Do the math, that means if they would have actually ran the ball, instead of relying on Vick's unreliable, bullshit arm, they would have had a first down every two downs...but New Orleans was the "feel-good" story of the week so kudos.

4) Every year some jackass reporter on ESPN (usually someone from the south) proclaims that this is the year that Michael Vick becomes the second-coming of Steve Young, and will throw/run more than any single player in the history of football. He will single handedly win the Super Bowl for Atlanta, while simultaneously leading the league in rushing, passing, receiving, field goals, genital herpes (wait no, that's Ron Mexico), and corn rows. It's time someone told these hayseeds...accurate arms win Super Bowls, not inconsistent quarterbacks that play 11 games a year. Mark my word...Vick will lead this team nowhere this year.

5) New Orleans....the "Who-Dat" cheer is freaking me out. C'mon, I know you've had it forever, but the Bengals have owned "Who-Dey" and made it legit...please stop because it confuses me. Oh, and sorry 'bout that whole disaster thing.

So, after MNF, I'm salty as hell. Most of it is probably because I have Warrick Dunn on my fantasy football team and he did absolutely dick tonight...meanwhile I was playing Currin, who had Reggie Bush and beat me. Ugh, I now hate Atlanta.

Sign Of The Times...

"Skulls II" is on the American Movie Classic channel right now. How the Hell does that happen? What part of a sequel to a shitty movie makes it a classic? Give me "Breakfast At Tiffany's" or "A Streetcar Named Desire," anyday. Hell, I'd settle for "Arthur" at this point...but "Skulls II?" By this logic, I'm looking forward to seeing "Cool Runnings" on the Biography Channel next week, that's just as credible.

Video Blog 1...

So I finally figured out that in order for me to post my video blogs on "the net" I needed to compress them before uploading them (I know I should have figured this out faster but I didn't, get off my back). My first video blog is below. I apologize for the shitty quality of the picture and sound, but that's what happens when you compress a file from roughly 400MB to roughly 5. I will not, however, apologize for the shitty topic of the blog...this was more of a learning experience than anything else so my incoherant babbling is a product of attempting to fill space. My second video blog is also up on youtube, it was yet another piss-poor attempt to figure out what I was doing wrong in the uploading dept. Alright, enough excuses. Here it is...

To Laugh Or Not To Laugh (cont.)...

Oh, and this one...

To Laugh Or Not To Laugh...

Found this on Kevin Smith's blog. I was told by an older RN on my floor that after working in psych for a while I would have a sick sense of humor...I think it may have finally happened because I know I shouldn't find this funny...but I do.

Note To Self...

If you buy Steak 'n Shake on the West Side...it will be cold by the time you get home on the East Side...but it will still be delicious.

Middle Age...

So I recently had my 25th birthday and I'm officially middle-aged (seriously, take a look at the way I live my life and tell me I'm gonna live past 50). My co-workers arranged a little on-unit surprise party for me. One of the MHW's (Mental Health Workers) came to me and told me I was needed in the adolescent activity room. Initially I thought, "Great, one of the patients has flipped and I'm going to have to "escort" him into one of the seclusion rooms." When I walked in though, all the kids were smiling at me, "Great...they've killed the other staff and I'm about to get pummeled with small, medium, and large sized fists." I was wrong though and they all yelled surprise and presented me with a cake and hand-made cards that they had worked on earlier in the day. It was really nice and it made me remember why I work in the field I do...then of course one of the kids did flip and we had a little, "physical altercation," afterwards he told me he hoped I had, "...the worst fucking birthday ever." Well jokes on you ya little bastard, I had a pretty ok one. There were many spirits with friends on Friday and Saturday nights, then I went to the lake house on Sunday for a day of boating. The only awful part was the drive to the lake house on Sunday morning when I was sure that I had caught a violent strain of bubonic plague...turned out to just be a nasty hangover though.

Being middle-aged has made me start to reevaluate my life though. Maybe I should stop all the drinking, smoking, and complete lack of respect for the temple that is my body. Maybe I should wake up earlier and stop staying up till the wee hours of the morning. Maybe I should get rid of the Mini and buy a nice, safe Volvo. Maybe I should finally say goodbye to "Weekend Bo" and become an adult....fuck it, that sounds boring and like a lot of friggin' work.

One change I am thinking about, though, is the possibility of starting a video blog. I mean, I really don't have enough mind-numbing wastes of time in my life, so I'm thinking this could fill a non-existing void. We'll see. Well, until next time...

Much Love,
Bo
